I traveled to Bakersfield, CA for Emma & Jared’s wedding. When I arrived to photograph the boys getting ready, the first thing they did was put on Star Wars. The energy in their room was pretty amazing against the backdrop of the Star Wars soundtrack. As I was processing these photographs, I pointed to their wedding cake and told my husband, “I don’t know what that is.” Immediately he said, “Death Star.” I should have known when grandpa had a light saber during the family formals. 
Their reception took place on the Cal State Bakersfield campus outdoors decorated with twinkle lights. I wanted to capture the mood of the night so turned off my flash for a few photographs. This first photograph is one of my favorites – the colors are essentially straight out of the camera.
I think the boys were reenacting a scene from Scooby Doo:

The groom’s cake, my grandpa with the light saber, the guys watching the movies while getting ready. It wasn’t planned but that’s what happens with the people involved I guess!
also ps, i really wonder who that is in the picture of the guy putting shoes on..cuz that does not really look like Jareds hands..unless he got more hairy and vein-y
